Minutes of our weekly meetings.

Hello, Penguins!  As this is the first set of minutes for the New Year, I think a hearty Happy New Year is in order!

This week, special guests Randy Tomblin and company came and spoke to us about the SGA elections.  Tomblin for President!  He met our very strict criteria for endorsement, since he’s such a nice guy.

CPACkers owe Amy $23 for gas.  Better get on that!

MARSHAL LIBERTARIAN elections will be held on April 14th.  Everyone will get a piece of paper and will write down four names, one for each position.  I hear the Secretary seat will be hotly contested since the shocking announcement that the incumbent will not be running for re-election.

We will be having a Constitution Table on the last week of this month in the MSC.  Samuel Adams will be the Featured Founding Father for the week.  Everyone should know when their scheduled volunteer times are.  If not, ask Tim.

Beer Summit Part Deaux has been rescheduled to April 2nd.

Formal National Security Debate is March 16th.  NO TOUCHING ALLOWED.

Have fun!

THE MARSHALL LIBERTARIANS will host a movie viewing this week on Thursday, October 24  in our homeroom, MSC 2E10.  The film is Why We Fight.  Hope to see you there.

WE also still plan on organizing a forum on foreign policy that is likely to take place on November 5.

PENN and Teller “Night of Bull Shit” is on November 11.

Get in touch with Kevin if you want to see Rand Paul elected.  We all plan on taking a trip to Ashland soon to help out a little bit.

Wear empty holsters on campus whenever you want, but we’ve decided to wait until the national Empty Holster Week in April to make a big deal of it.  Jerry is going to start a separate group on campus dedicated to BBW….errr LGBT…. or whatever accronym Students for Concealed Weapons on Campus has.  I think Josh is actually in charge of LGBT now that I think of it.

FINALLY, John Adams’s birthday is October 30th.  Party at Tim’s house with complimentary Guinness and Jameson!  I love the Irish!

TONIGHT we had our showing of The Great Global Warming Swindle.  A fun time was certainly had by all.  Shockingly, the only people who disagreed either expressed their views through graphic art on our fliers and didn’t show up at all, or came and then left during the movie and didn’t stick around for any discussion.

THIS week was a little different than usual as we had our Health Care Forum.  Josh Parsons and Ward Hiney represented the MARSHALL LIBERTARIANS while Matt Sowards, Jay Roudabush, and the Third Young Democrat represented the Young Dems.  The College Republicans decided not to attend for unknown reasons.

EVERYTHING went very well, especially considering the unorthodox format.  All five of them deserve credit for keeping the discussion on topic and moving forward, but I would like to particularly thank Matt for his efforts in this regard.

IT does, however, go without saying that we won handily.

THINGS are finally starting to happen with the MARSHALL LIBERTARIANS.  We had a record shattering attendence of 9 this evening, with a projected return rate for new members at approximately 100%.  Also check closely the Treasury Report.  Sixty dollars!?  Our fliers must have been pretty spiffy.

TIM is planning on taking another trip to CPAC to see Ron Paul.  Get in touch with him if you are interested in going.   Also, Young Americans for Liberty is looking for volunteers so visit http://www.yaliberty.org/ and get in touch with Vice President Kevin Kelly.  He’s from New York.

WILL the leaders of the Concealed Weapons on Campus group please contact us.  We would love to help out the cause.

DO come out for The Great Global Warming Swindle film on Wednesday, September 20.

FOR anyone interested, the URL for our Facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.php?gid=4103294706&ref=ts.  We don’t use it very often anymore though.

AMANDA WHITE is making our fliers now.

IN an interesting turn of events, it seems as if the MARSHALL LIBERTARIANS have been split into factions over a very hotly contested issue.  News of the so-called Liberty Relief Fund, or Liberty ”Tax” as it is referred to by its opponents, is sweeping across campus with passionate debate uncommon in young people today.  The irony of it all is that half of the Libertarians seem to have proposed the bill, while the other half is actively protesting it.  More is sure to come on this fascinating fissure.

BED.  Finally, everything seems to be in place for the forum next week.  It will be  held in MSC 2W16 next Wednesday on September 9 at 7:00 p.m.  We hope to see many smiling faces.

WELCOME back to school everyone.  The MARSHALL LIBERTARIANS strongly encourage you to have a safe and exciting new semester.

CONSTITUTION Day is scheduled to be on September 17 this year.  We will have a table set up in the Student Center for the occasion and will be passing out Constitutions and political quizzes.  Any and all donations towards buying Constitutions are greatly appreciated.

MANY important things were discussed in our meeting, but the pressing issue at hand is our Health Care Forum.  Our goal is to have a solid set of rules and questions by next week.  I hope everyone reading this comes out to see.

THE next thing coming up that we are planning in participating in is the open holster carrying week, in which students at Marshall will be protesting the rule that no concealed weapons are allowed on campus at this time. It is our belief that a better armed public is a safer public.  It has been rumored that there is a student organization completely dedicated to this cause but as of yet we have been unsuccessful in locating them. More information will be coming soon.

FINALLY, we look forward to next week, which is the first meeting of the semester in our usual room.  We hope to see many new faces!
